We have awarded the first prize for the public annoucement type proposal held in 2009 as the former elementary school has moved.

The site is located in the district expected to become a new urban area. Our proposal is opened dynamically to a new town and aims at the creation of a bright and lively school.

The overall layout intend to enrich a new town by distributing a lot of trees around the site. The ground is arranged on the east side, defended from the monsoon from the west by the schoolhouse. We regard the courtyard as the symbol of the school which has the camphor tree transplanted from the former school. The schoolhouse is functional arranged compactly connecting each zone such as the classrooms, the specific classrooms, information media center, and administration.

The classroom is planned as the open school style forming a cluster of each school year. One of the basic concept is to regard the school as the part of a life scene, which enables to correspond with various educational methods.

It is pointed as the environment-conscious school that reduces 50% of the amount of the CO2 exhaust by achieving passive environmental basic performance of the building, using underground heat utilizing the stake, and introducing natural energy as much as possible. It is also installed biotope on the site to make it useful for natural/environmental education of school children.
